SFU | Introducing the new Rectorate team
As of 1st August 2025, the new Rectorate of SFU officially takes office. The personnel changes will also see a reorganisation of academic and administrative management functions; notably, a Vice-Rectorate for Legal Affairs and Organisational Development has been established for the first time:
Rektor Univ.-Prof. Dr. Johannes Pollak
is responsible for the SFU’s overall strategic development, its external representation, the conclusion of all cooperation agreements, and the overarching coordination of all faculties and campuses.

Kanzler Mag. Christian Arthaber
is responsible for the university’s overall financial management, budget planning and monitoring, resource allocation and the SFU’s financial development.

Vizerektorin für Forschung Univ.-Prof. Dr. Marion Garaus, Ph.D.
is responsible for the university’s research strategy, promoting academic output, the strategy for securing external funding, and quality assurance in research.

Vizerektor für Lehre Ass. Prof. Dr. Stefan Hampl
is responsible for all matters relating to teaching, programme development, quality assurance in teaching, and coordination between the faculties in the area of teaching.

Vizerektorin für Recht & Organisationsentwicklung Dr. Teresa Schön
is responsible for legal and organisational development, the management and coordination of accreditation processes, contract management and institutional quality assurance.
