Sigmund Freud Private University (SFU) Berlin promotes equal cooperation between its members and staff at all functional levels. This includes, in particular, administration, study, teaching and research as well as services (e.g. Study Service Centre, therapy and counselling services, cleaning). The SFU attaches great importance to cooperation based on trust and to respectful and appreciative interaction between all those involved.

All members and staff of the SFU contribute through their behaviour to a working and study climate in which the personal integrity and self-respect of all employees, students and guests are respected. In particular, persons with training, qualification and management duties in teaching and research, administration and self-administration bear the responsibility, due to their duty of care, for ensuring that discrimination, sexualised violence, stalking and mobbing as well as, in particular, the exploitation of dependency relationships in studies and at training and workplaces are not tolerated.

Should incidents nevertheless occur, students and persons working at the SFU have the possibility to take action in the case of discrimination

  • B. on the basis of gender (identity), ethnicity, religion or ideology, age or sexual orientation or/and
  • by organs, members of staff and persons working at the university

submit a complaint (in writing or verbally).

All complaints are treated strictly confidentially. Even if there is an appearance of a conflict of interest, the member of the working group concerned is excluded from dealing with the complaint. We ask for your understanding that complaints submitted anonymously, especially if there is no possibility of further enquiry, may lead to difficulties in processing.

The working group cannot issue binding instructions or pass judgement. However, the working group will emphatically demand the resolution of conflicts. In particular, the working group may

  • request written and personal statements on complaints;
  • recommend mediation/ therapy/ coaching/ moderation/ counselling;
  • offer a discussion/ discussions with the conflict partners;
  • question informants or experts;
  • obtain expert opinions and information;
  • give recommendations and information;
  • report regularly and anonymously to the academic senate on perceptions brought to its attention.
