Ways abroad – SFUrope
The International Office of SFU Berlin promotes the internationalisation of students and staff and is the coordinating service point for existing and new university partnerships, international relations and the planning of semesters and internships abroad. We see ourselves as a contact point for international students, visiting scholars, universities and other organisations as well as for students and lecturers at SFU Berlin who are interested in a stay abroad.
Studying at SFU Dependances in Europe – Outgoing Student Mobility
SFU sees itself as a European university and developed its first branch in Paris in 2006, followed by further branches in Ljubljana and Berlin, then Milan and Linz. In all these locations, psychotherapy and psychology are taught – in the respective national language and the respective different cultural colours – and yet as a common teaching corpus. Students at SFU Berlin have the opportunity to study one semester at one of the branches of Sigmund Freud University. For the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes in psychology and psychotherapy science, the SFU’s headquarters in Vienna are particularly suitable. It is possible to complete the internship at the psychological or psychotherapeutic outpatient clinics at SFU Vienna. A semester abroad at SFU Paris, SFU Lublijana or SFU Milan is also possible (in principle). In this case, however, an extension of the study programme is to be expected. The prerequisite is very good language skills in the respective host country.
In addition, SFU Vienna offers an English programme in Psychology and in Psychotherapy Science. Every summer, SFU in Berlin, Vienna, Linz, Paris and Ljubljana offer a Summer School in Psychotherapy Science; ECTS credits earned can be credited towards the regular curriculum in Psychotherapy Science at SFU Berlin.
SFU | Erasmus+ Charter 2021-27
The Erasmus+ Charter (ECHE) 2021-27 is a framework agreement linking all universities across Europe for the purpose of mobility and research programmes. It is therefore highly gratifying that the European Commission has awarded SFU the ECHE also in the new programme period – gratifying, of course, for students who can gain important international experience through mobility for study or internship purposes at other European universities or institutions.

Going abroad with Erasmus+
Would you like to spend a semester of your studies at a university in another European country? Students of the Bachelor’s programme in Psychology and the Master’s programme in Clinical Psychology who would like to study abroad in Europe within the framework of the Erasmus+ programme can also apply for an ERASMUS+ scholarship from funds of the European Commission together with their study place at one of our partner universities. The monthly scholarship amount is graded by country group and varies from year to year. Students must have completed at least one academic year at the beginning of their studies abroad and have sufficient knowledge of the language of instruction of the target country (at the time of application).

Direct exchange at our partner university Zurich University of Applied Sciences
The Zurich University of Applied Sciences is a multi-disciplinary university of applied sciences in the canton of Zurich (Switzerland). With currently around 12,000 students, it is the third largest university in the canton. The Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programmes offered include Applied Psychology. SFU Berlin students in the Bachelor’s programme in Psychology and the Master’s programme in Clinical Psychology can study at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences for one semester as part of a direct exchange programme.
As a free mover to a university worldwide
You can also go to a university abroad as a so-called free mover, independently of our partner universities and the Erasmus programme. In this case, you organise your stay abroad independently and can choose the destination country and the host university yourself.
Alongside their studies and across all subjects, foreign students at SFU Berlin can take part in German and conversation courses and thus improve their language skills. Registration: office@sfu-berlin.de
