Dr. Kate Sheese works as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology and heads the MSc. Psychology specialization Clinical Psychology and Public Mental Health. She teaches in the areas of qualitative research methods, conflict theories, organizational psychology, and sexual health and reproductive justice at the Bachelor's and Master's levels. Her research explores issues related to gender, displacement, and solidarity in crisis and conflict. As a practitioner, Kate works with organizations in crisis settings to develop participatory, contextualized, responsive staff care structures. She received her doctorate from The Graduate Center, City University of New York, with a dissertation entitled, A Solitary Solidarity: Conditions for Attunement in the ‘Migration Crisis’ in Greece.
Research and Work Focus
Care and solidarity in conflict contexts; feminist and decolonization practices in psychosocial work; histories of gender, women, and feminism in psychology; sexual desire, pleasure, and embodiment; conflict transformation and restorative justice; qualitative and participatory action-oriented research methods.
