Prof. Dr. Amir Kurtaran was born in Turkey, came to Vienna in 1986, and trained as a specialist in internal medicine and nuclear medicine at Vienna General Hospital. He habilitated in 1998 and became an associate university professor in 1998. Since 2008 he has been the director of the Nuclear Medicine Institute of the Rudolf Foundation.
His scientific career focuses on the diagnosis and therapy of thyroid diseases, PET/CT and medical radiation protection. He contributes to scientific societies, is a reviewer for international scientific journals and the recipient of numerous scientific awards.
